Thunder and lightning and torrential rain did not stop the Carnival Parade and thousands of sightseers lined the three-mile route. Flashes of lightening lit up the skies making even brighter the gaily lit floats. Moments later came the crashes of thunder and then the heavens opened. But the bedraggled crowds refused to leave their vantage points and street collections were slightly up on the previous year.
